Welcome to a new season of Watercolour LIVE ! Join me for my Watercolour LIVE series called « The Dawn of Impressionism : From Past to Present ». In this new series I invite you to join me as we study the work of past artists across different mediums and styles. My goal with new series is to gain knowledge from past artists, as we observe the colour, tonal value, composition and technical choices they made in their work, in order to save time in our own painting progress. This week we will continue to study the work of Australian Impressionist artist Arthur Streeton (1867–1943). This week we will take a close look at how Streeton mastered atmosphere in his paintings ! Even very early on in his painting career, Arthur Streeton focused on the impression of a subject, not the objects within it. His ability to take what was essential in a subject and remove any distractions, allowed him to amplify mood, atmosphere and create strong design in all of his work. Many paintings today are technically great, yet emotional poor. This week we will focus on how you can create more mood and atmosphere in your paintings, using some of the things that Arthur Streeton developed. IMPORTANT : What Streeton learned about atmosphere. ESSENTIAL : How Streeton was able to create strong mood in every painting. understanding in your own paintings. PROFESSIONAL : What makes Arthur Streeton’s painting stand out from all other artists today. This is very important !!
